WILD YILKI HORSES

As a word, Yılkı means is ‘free horse living on their own environment’. The Yılkı Horses are, as its word meaning, hundreds of free, wild, noble and gorgeous Anatolian horses living in the centre of Turkey for ages. These horses are a kind of Anatolian racehorse, most of them today live in Hürmetçi Village that so close to Cappadocia. This village provides a natural environment to them with its green areas, wetlands and spread areas where horses can run freely. This environment provides lots of amazing scenes and cinematographic details to professional photographers who want to attend Photography tours at Turkey.

The Living Symbols of The Free and Wild Souls of The Turks!

In old times the number of horses was higher than today but with time some of them spread to other cities, some of them tamed by people. Today there are still more than 300 wild, semi-wild Yılkı Horses and they are under protection now. This herd, one of the biggest wild horse herds on the world. As a special Anatolian kind, these horses are utilized as ambler horses. Which means they are the most suitable and strong horses for races. And the all horses in that herd have same capabilities if they can tame anymore.

Together with their special features, today thousands of people from all over the world come to Turkey just to see them, just to live through a documentary and to taste this amazing atmosphere! When hundreds of wild horses running around you at the sunset, you can feel the warmth of the sun and tremble of the ground with their footsteps. Also, if you prefer winter, the contrast of extremely white snow on the ground and the brown horses is really must see. In spring, hundreds of horses running on the wetlands of Hürmetçi, with beauties of the spring weather. All seasons has its own different environment and atmosphere!

You can imagine that like you are in a movie or in a wild west film with cowboys! For people who like to experiment with different adventures! This is a huge opportunity for nature lovers, horse lovers, wildlife lovers and of course mostly for equine photographers!
